Knowing YAHveh's Will

By: Evangelist Melvin Steed

In the seasons of life we often struggle to stay in the will of YAHveh. One of the main reasons may be because we do not understand His will outlined in Romans 12:2. The New Living Translation reads this way, "don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect His will really is." YAHveh says as we change how we think then we will know His good or permissive will. We will know His pleasing or acceptable will, and we will know His perfect will.

Romans 12 reveal to us three distinct levels of the will of YAHveh. First, the good or permissive will. Children begin to grow in the permissive will of their parents. In this initial growth there are certain things received from parents because they are their children. Some of these are food, clothing, and a roof over their heads. I believe it is the same way with YAHveh. When we accept Him as our Lord and Savior we enter into His permissive will and there are certain basic spiritual things we receive from Him.

Second, the pleasing or acceptable will. Children are assigned chores by their parents. Parents expect them to make good grades in school. They want them to be polite and respect their elders. As they meet these goals given by their parents they continue in the permissive will and also enter into the acceptable will. Now, they not only receive the things they need, but parents add a few more things to their life. A new toy. Some extra desert at supper, or something they wanted but did not necessarily need. This is the best of YAHveh. He begins to pour spiritual things in our lives. He teaches us to recognize His voice, to move in His Spirit, to experience His peace that passes all understanding and joy unspeakable and full of glory.

Now, we come to the perfect will. This does not mean we are perfect, but it allows us the power to operate 100% in our parent’s name. It means when someone is dealing with us, it is as if, they were dealing directly with our parents. The trust is there. The relationship is there, and both parties know what to expect. When we enter the third level of the will of YAHveh this is how it is. We move in the full power and authority of the Father because we have proven to Him in the other levels that we can be trusted. Then He knows He can use us to touch the hearts of His people. The ultimate goal for YAHveh is for us to enter His perfect will so that we may reconcile others back to Him, (2 Corinthians 5).

My prayer is we enter the perfect will of YAHveh so we can save a dying world.
